How to Care For Your Wrap

9/3/2024
  • Avoid car washes (hand wash using a mild soap and water).
  • Avoid high pressure washing.
  • Never use an ice scraper on window film.
  • Avoid using a rear wiper on window film.
  • Applying a wax over the wrap, by hand, can help add protection to the vinyl.

Wrap Maintenance and Care

In order to help keep your wrap in good condition you may find that from time-to-time small areas will need your attention. Given the nature of a vehicle wrap, certain areas like door handles, bumpers, or deep grooves are difficult areas and may tend to wear harder and lift. When this happens, you can use the clear laminate provided to reseal the areas. Vinyl will not stick to rubber gaskets or molded parts so if these areas are lifting, the vinyl should be removed. In so cases, bumpers and non-flat roofs with ridges may not last like other surfaces of the vehicle and may need to be removed.

How to Repair an Area That's Lifting

  1. With a small utility knife gently cut away any loose material.
  2. Clean the are with a soft damp cloth making sure that any water and dirt is removed from the area.
  3. Dry the surface thoroughly with clean, lint-free paper towels.
  4. Cut and apply the appropriate amount of clear laminate by removing the paper backing and pushing gently with fingers over the area.

What to Do If:

The vinyl is lifting over a seam of two panels, or around a curve:

  1. Clean the area with soft damp cloth making sure that any water and dirt is removed from the area.
  2. Apply a strip of clear laminate provided, overlapping the seam in these areas.

The vinyl has been stretched into deep channels and is lifting/bubbling:

  1. Clean the area with a soft damp cloth making sure that any water and dirt is removed from the area.
  2. Gently cut the vinyl using a small utility knife to relieve the stress on the vinyl.
  3. Lay a clear laminate strip in this channel, overlapping and joining the now separated film. DO NOT stretch this strip while pressing it into the channel.
